Terms of service

The agreement between you and maxlevel covering acceptable use, plan limits, billing, and how either side can end it.

Version 1.0 · Last updated 27 July 2026

The agreement

By creating an account you agree to these terms. Where a signed order form or enterprise agreement exists, that document takes precedence over anything written here.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials and API keys secure. Community admins are responsible for the rulesets they define and the members they invite.

Acceptable use

Do not use maxlevel to harass, surveil, or discipline people in ways they have not been told about; do not attempt to reach another community’s data; do not resell the service without a written agreement. Automated logging must reflect actions that actually happened.

Plans, limits, and ads

Each plan carries the limits published on the pricing page, including member caps, history windows, and whether ads are shown. We will notify you before you reach a limit rather than cutting service off.

Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our billing provider, per occupied seat. There is no minimum seat count and no trial period: the free tier is untimed, and a paid plan begins when you choose to upgrade. Seat counts are recalculated at the start of each cycle.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time and the plan runs to the end of the paid period. We do not pro-rate part-months. If we materially break the service and cannot fix it, you get a refund for the unused term.

Your data

Your content stays yours. We claim only the licence needed to operate the service. On termination you can export your data, and we delete it on the schedule in the privacy policy.

Availability and liability

We aim for high availability but only commit to a specific SLA in an enterprise agreement. Liability is limited to the fees paid in the preceding twelve months, to the extent the law permits.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced at least 30 days in advance, and continuing to use the service after they take effect counts as acceptance.
